Dr. Hazel Lindo-Carrington
Hazel Lindo-Carrington is an educator who started her career as a teacher of science at Boys’ Foundation School. Students found her approach creative, dynamic and refreshing, as she sought to develop their individual strengths and foster independent thought. Her interest in students led her beyond the confines of science education to a broader concern with social issues that impact education. To this end, she completed a Doctor of Philosophy in Education from the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus, specialising in sociology of education broadly, with an interest in gender and boys’ academic achievement in particular. Dr Lindo-Carrington has served as a resource person at the School of Education, UWI, Cave Hill with brief stints as tutor at Erdiston Teachers’ Training College, where she has trained and mentored student teachers. Her hobbies are gardening, reading, and writing dialect poetry. But what really gets her adrenalin flowing is the dynamic of the classroom. For in her heart of hearts, at the very core, she is a proud teacher.
